Talking Medicines built & launched the Medsmart® solution which is a tool to link the consumer with their medicine. It has been launched to consumers as a free App on iOS and Android & it helps them manage their own medicines. Underpinning Medsmart® is a dynamic database of curated medicine content. The team of Biocurators working on Medsmart® have now managed to hit a milestone of 20,000 individual UK medicines checked & saved within the curated database. What this means is that consumers can scan the barcode of both prescription and over-the-counter medicines and 20,000 of them will be recognised within the App so that consumers can easily save their medicines to their Medsmart® Medicine Cabinet. The scanning of the medicine barcode unlocks the trusted, curated content about the medicine, including the name, dosage and the ingredients within it. This meaning that users do not have to spell or guess at the name of the medicine in front of them. Users can also set up alerts to the ingredients of medicines that they may be allergic or intolerant to.
The power of the tool has fuelled the launch in 2018 of Medsmart® real world medicines insights data. Through Medsmart® we are able to collect and analyse patterns of real world behaviour on how medicines are actually being taken from the users perspective. This data is of high value to brand marketing teams in Pharmaceutical Companies and available as a subscription service.
