Tracking allergies through Medsmart®
February 6, 2020

It is so important for people to be able to track allergies. Around 2-4% of children in the UK have a peanut allergy. This can result in skin reactions, itching, tightening of the throat and many other symptoms. These side effects can hugely affect how individuals live their day to day lives. This could be through avoiding restaurants or holidays in fear of an allergic reaction.

In the news the FDA has now approved a new peanut allergy treatment. The drug, known as Palforzia®. It uses oral immunotherapy and will be administered in increasing amounts over the course of half a year. After this time the dose will drop to a maintenance amount.

People tracking allergies is important for themselves or or for family members. Using our Medsmart® app users can track ingredients to understand what is within medicines.  Through understanding patients who have allergies this means we can deliver educational content. It can be directed specifically to these users and reflect back more about their behaviours and understanding.

Please get in touch if you would like to hear more about how our data products and how it can help you uncover the patient voice and proactively engage with your medicine users in the area of allergies.
