Talking Medicines shortlisted for Women’s Enterprise Scotland Award

Left to Right: Nicola Johnson – AVP Customer Success, Jo Halliday – CEO, Elizabeth Fairley – COO

We are delighted that Talking Medicines has been shortlisted in our home market by Women’s Enterprise Scotland as finalist in the Funded Business category, sponsored by the British Business Bank.

As a company led by three Founders, two of whom are female, myself and Dr Elizabeth Fairley, Chief Operating and Data Officer, we have always been committed to promoting diversity and inclusion as a core value underpinning our business and our approach to ESG. This commitment is reflected in the fact that 60% of our workforce is female, a high ratio within an industry that has, traditionally, been male dominated.

Having worked with and led several other businesses before co-founding Talking Medicines, I have always tried to use my position to be a champion for more female representation in the technology sector. By regularly speaking at events, both online and in person, and sharing my experiences and resources, I try to inspire potential female entrepreneurs and help to bust the pervading myth that STEM subjects are just for boys!

However, it’s not simply a personal passion which drives my commitment to equality. Nurturing a diverse workforce which is reflective of the society we live in just makes good business sense. As Talking Medicines continues to grow and expand, diversity and inclusion will remain a central foundation of our future strategy and success.

In the meantime, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for a win on awards night!
